MAXIEM 2040 JetMachining Center

MAXIEM 2040 JetMachining Center The next generation MAXIEM® 2040 JetMachining® Center sets a new standard for abrasive waterjet machining. Faster, smoother, and more precise, the MAXIEM 2040 is ideal for a wide range of modern machining needs. The exclusive advanced Intelli-TRAX® digital linear encoder provides one-micron resolution instant feedback to the motor control system so the machine knows precisely where the cutting head is at all times. The mobile control station with widescreen display provides flexibility in controller positioning. Optional accessories such as the A-Jet® for 5-axis cutting and taper compensation, Rapid Water Level Control for submerged cutting, and DualPUMP options that provide up to 80 hp of power expand your JetMachining capabilities and dramatically improve production.

Flexible and Versatile

A waterjet utilizes a high pressure stream of water to erode a narrow line in the stock material. To cut a wider range of materials from tool steel to titanium to foam, a granular (typically garnet) abrasive is added to the waterjet, increasing the cutting power. Because the abrasive is added at the nozzle, it is simple to switch between water only and abrasive waterjet cutting. This flexibility greatly enhances the versatility of a waterjet machine, as it can easily switch from cutting ½" (1.27cm) foam gaskets to 4" (10.16cm) titanium brackets.

Motion Control

The motion control system is an essential element in an abrasive waterjet cutting system because the cutting stream bends as it cuts. This means that a waterjet tends to undercut corners and swing wide on curves when moved as one would move a traditional rigid cutting tool. OMAX eliminates this issue by using an advanced computer model to accurately predict the motion and shape of the cutting stream and then by using a PC-based motion control system to compensate for undesired jet motion. The result is a fast, accurate part the first time. No trial and error and no need for an experienced programmer because the experience and the knowledge is in the control software.

Advanced Simplicity

As the nozzle moves along the material being cut, the waterjet stream will bend in the direction of travel. This means that a waterjet tends to undercut corners and swing wide on curves. Understanding the dynamics of the waterjet stream and accounting for the bend of the jet is essential for cutting quickly while maintaining accuracy. OMAX has developed extensive and accurate computer models of this flexible cutting jet in order to highly optimize the patented control software, resulting in fast, accurate cutting for all types of shapes, enabling an inexperienced operator to make accurate part without trial-and-error programming.
